Something I intended to mention but failed to in my earlier message was an expression of gratitude to the four different friends who looked after Kelric during the day this week. Their assistance gave me something to look forward to each day and made it possible to run a few errands, get labwork done at the cancer center, go to two different medical appointments, and take a couple of naps this week. Thank you Alexis, Diana, Rebekah, and Kim.

Chemotherapy affects the growth of fingernails, creating a pattern of stripes. When I was almost done with chemo I wrote a poem called "Awakening of the Tiger Woman" because my striped nails and determination to survive reminded me of the ferocity of a tiger. This blog chronicles my journey from newly-diagnosed, pregnant, 34-year-old frightened woman to strong survivor and mother. I got breast cancer, but it didn't get me.
